The message, the email, the note. Switch to Speach with the globe key, tap to speak, and your words land in the text field. The keyboard stays there for the little edits.

Start listening once, in the Speach app or from Control Center, then talk as often as you like. Listening ends after the quiet time you choose, from 15 minutes to 8 hours. Nothing is recorded between dictations.

Questions.

What is Speach?

Speach is a speech-to-text app and voice keyboard for iPhone. You talk, it writes notes, messages, emails and ideas, typed straight into the app you’re using.

How is this different from iPhone dictation?

Built-in dictation types what you say, restarts and corrections included. Speach writes the sentence you meant. It also starts without opening anything, from the Action Button or Lock Screen, works out whether you’re writing a note, message, email or idea, and keeps every dictation with the time you’ve saved.

How does the voice keyboard work?

Switch to Speach with the globe key and tap Tap to speak above the letters. Your words appear in the text field as you talk, and the full keyboard stays there for edits. Tap to speak works while Keyboard listening is on. Start it once, in the Speach app or with the Keyboard listening control in Control Center, then talk as often as you like. Nothing is recorded between dictations, and listening ends after the quiet time you choose, from 15 minutes to 8 hours.

Do I have to choose note, message or email?

No. About five words in, Speach works out whether you’re writing a note, a message, an email or an idea, and sends it to the right place.

Is my voice transcribed on my iPhone?

Yes. Your voice is transcribed on your iPhone, and Speach never uploads it. Full clean-up can also use Apple Intelligence, with the privacy Apple builds into its own features, or stay on your iPhone if you prefer. Full Access lets the keyboard connect to the Speach app, so your words reach the text field. Your dictations are saved in Speach, and in your iCloud Backup if it’s turned on. Once it’s set up, Speach works in airplane mode.

How much does Speach cost?

Speach is free: every feature, with 30 minutes of dictation every week. Speach Pro has no weekly limit and adds High accuracy, an optional download of about 630 MB that listens to each dictation again after you finish. It costs $19.99 a year, $9.99 a month, or $59.99 once with Lifetime. The yearly and monthly plans start with a 14-day free trial for eligible Apple Accounts. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends and you pay nothing. Lifetime has no trial and doesn’t renew. When a subscription ends, you’re back on Free and keep every dictation.

What counts toward the 30 free minutes?

Every minute you dictate, wherever you start: the app, the keyboard, the Action Button, the Lock Screen, Siri and Shortcuts. Paused time doesn’t count, and neither does Keyboard listening while it waits for you. The minutes come back each week, and Speach shows the date.

What happens when the minutes run out?

A dictation that has started always finishes and is saved in full. New dictations wait for the date Speach shows, or for Pro. Typing, History, copy and export keep working.

Stop typing what you could just say.
